For many years, the Festival has brought together museums under federal, city, and departmental jurisdiction, including small museums of university departments and laboratories and of scientific organizations in Russia and around the world. Small university museums, libraries, and scientific associations hold unique collections and considerable museum potential that can be opened up to visitors. Young scientists, postgraduate students, and students serve as guides and lecturers during the Festival. As the Festival has grown, libraries, cultural centers, and tourism organizations from the regions of the Russian Federation and from abroad, all interested in the education and enlightenment of children, young people, and adults, have joined its program.
By holding their events under the auspices of the Festival and with the support of the organizers, participants have had the opportunity to become part of a large international scientific, educational, and cultural community, to present their unique exhibits, and to talk about their scientific work.
The Festival has a business program and a museum-educational and cultural program.
The Festival's business program was opened by the II International Conference "Humanitarian Modernization in the Interests of Sustainable Development of Society," held at the St. Petersburg House of Nationalities.
Participants were also invited to take part in the scientific and educational program of scientific organizations and universities, and in an international Round Table discussing international and Russian practice in integrating museum resources into the educational process of schools and universities. The Round Table was held at the Mariinsky Palace with the support of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg.
For the organizers of the business program events, it was important that the discussions addressed the formation, on the international stage, of the image of the Russian state as a custodian and defender of traditional universal spiritual and moral values; the development of public diplomacy in the interests of sustainable development of society; and the promotion of the role of women internationally in the development of science and education and in creating moral and value-based guideposts for the younger generation.
Looking ahead, the Festival, which runs until April 5, 2026, will include scientific and educational conferences for schoolchildren and students, a press conference at the Interfax news agency, and, of course, the museum-educational and cultural program.
